2. Trekking : |
For those
fascinated by the unexplored, the mountain ranges of India
offer breathtaking, enthralling trekking routes.
In the vast amphitheatre of the Indian Himalayas and
Karakorams, there are limitless possibilities for trekking,
mountaineering, skiing, and river rafting. Within this alluring arena, the
Garhwal and Kumaon regions, occupy the central place, with special
points of interest for the trekke.
Ladakh :
The Pangong Lake
circuit, The Tso Morrori Lake, The Nubra Valley, Lamaruyu to Stok, Spituk to
Hemis, Lamyuru Padum, Stok Khangri round trek and the Surru and Zanskar valleys
are the favorite trekking routes and paths which are commonly followed by both
amateur trekkers and accomplished trekkers in Ladakh which is in turn located in
Kashmir, India and is a very fast catching on adventure sport.
The
trekking season extends from July through September. Trekking in Jammu & Kashmir
is of different kind, one may go for trekking for a week or for a day. People
can not feel like they are away from the human life, even on hills the huts of
Gujjars can be seen made up of log of wood, they use to graze their sheeps on
the lonely hills. In Ladakh s some treks have monasteries as their focus and in
Kashmir some treks have mountain lakes as their focus. One trek in particular
covers half a dozen high altitude lakes, encircled by snow covered mountains. In
Jammu, Kishtwar and Bhadarwar regions have excellent trekking routes. To trek in
Jammu & Kashmir a number of tour operators who are specialize in organizing the
trekking trips are also available.
Garhwal
: The trekking routes are open from April to October. Garhwal is the paradise for the trekkers with its
beauty, which is kept because of its districts of Uttarkashi, Tehri-Garhwal,
Pauri-Garhwal, Dehra Dun and Chamoli. These hills are very much rich in natural
beauty. It provides all kind of terrains for the people interested in
studying the plants, art and culture and birds of Himalayas. A lots of material
is provided to the photographers, painters and weather professionals from the
village homes and scenic mountains.
Kumaon :
Trekking
in Kumaon can be undertaken all the year round, with traditionally popular
periods being April-June and September-November, just because of the vastness of
the terrain and altitude differences. In the valleys and forests of Kumaon,
mountaineering expeditions can still be organized. The main hill resort of
Kumaon is Nanital. The essential equipment is easily available on rent at the
individual basis.
Mussoorie : The
Gunhill is the second highest point in the Mussoorie. Two ways are there to
reach the Gunhill firstly through the court complex on the Mall Road. From this
way you will reach to the destination in near about 20 minutes. The another way
to go the Gunhill is through the Rope way. This way is full of excitement and
thrill. This path to the Gunhill is about 400 meters. From Gunhill Mussoorie
looks like a place full of colors, or one can feel like as the place is changing
the color at every moment. Each moment a different scene appears before your
eyes. There are many shops available on the hill top
Sikkim : If
someone visit Sikkim and misses to go for trekking among its challenging
foothills, then he must be missing a major attraction of the state. Government
there, now encouraging the trekkers to cover out the terrain of Sikkim with
their bravery skills, just to develop tourism and encourage tourist inflow. The
well-known trekking routes are Nayan Bazar- Pemayangtse-Yaksum-Dzongri or
Rangpo-Gangtok-Yaksum-Dzongri. In Sikkim trekking is allowed by the Indian
Tourist development Corporation and a liason officer or guide provided by the
government of Sikkim.
